Ah mornings love them well I love them to the point that I enjoy sleeping in until 10-11 AM every day so it seems like all the time I tend to wake up at the time I see and find breaking news every time a coach gets fired like this morning when I saw that Columbus fired Scott Arneil today and all here's what I thought

As in why now if you remember back when Columbus lost 9-2 on November 5th that is when the rumors started but GM Scott Howson stayed the course in when rumors of Ken Hitchcock would take over since he was still under contract to them and still in the organization they allowed him to go St. Louis and then after that Carolina, Washington, Anaheim, Montreal and Los Angeles while Columbus continued to stay the course well I guess losing 8 of their last 11 games including Sundays 7-4 loss to Anaheim the only team in the NHL that's been close to as bad as them I guess that finally did it.

If they weren't going to do it when they were 2-12-1 when they might be able to salvage something of their season why do it now when they are 11-25-5 and virtually have no chance to make the playoffs sitting 20 points back of a playoff spot and with trade rumors running rampant with Ric Nash and his no-trade clause which has caused teams to inquire about his availability and Jeff Carter has rumored to be wanting out of Columbus which his agent has denied that has ever happened and Sunday he got hit by Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin that has separated his shoulder and looks like he could be out a while combined with prized off-season signing James Wishniewski hurt and goaltending that has been mostly brutal this year looks like a complete mess that interim coach Todd Richards won't be able to save this season as it looks like Columbus is heading for the top pick in this year's draft

It was only 3 years ago that Columbus made the playoffs for the 1st time ever in their history and while the past 2 seasons they didn't make the playoffs they haven't been this dreaful and terrible Columbus is on pace for 54 points which would be the worst season in their history which would be just below their 2nd season in 2001-02 of 57 points(22-47-8-5 record)

Its a season that is likely to see GM Scott Howson look for another job once this season ends as he is likely to survive after this season.
