Back in June the Toronto Maple Leafs had their hands on the fifth overall pick for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Draft wasn't as strong nor promising after the first round, but luckily the Leafs had the fifth overall pick and got to choose one of the top prospects in the CHL. The Maple Leafs were proud to select defense man Morgan Rielly, from the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL.

The Maple Leafs organization were and are still excited to have selected the offensive defense man who can play a fantastic game. With the Maple Leafs adding a top defense man to their roster, you can only imagine how the next few years will play out for the young promising prospect.

Rielly missed most of the 2011-12 WHL season due to an injury, but after he was cleared to play, Rielly quickly got back into his game and became a point-per-game player. He managed to get in three goals, rally in 15 assists in only 18 games. He's known for his great ability to pass and set up teammates, he's also proven that he can score big goals by himself.

Rielly's skating ability makes him very valuable in the defensive and offensive zone. He's an all round defense man that the Maple Leafs need, which right now, the Maple Leafs don't have.

If Reilly wants to make it big, he's going to have to stay healthy and continue impressing the Maple Leafs and their fans. And he's doing that this year, he's off to a fantastic start as has 19 points in 16 games for the Warriors.

Is Rielly the future of the Maple Leafs defense? Let us know by commenting below.
