Anaheim, which started a five-game road trip Friday, has dropped a franchise- record 10 straight as the visitor (0-7-3).Jamal Mayers and Dave Bolland each scored for Chicago, which has won four straight and six of seven overall. Ray Emery made 24 saves, added an assist and was 1:47 away from a shutout before Teemu Selanne netted his 10th goal of the season. Jonas Hiller gave up all four Chicago goals on 24 shots. "We didn't play smart enough," Hiller said. "We gave them their chances." Mayers broke a 24-game goal drought with a backhander from behind the net 6:37 into the game. Seconds after helping to kill off a power-play chance early in the second, Lubomir Visnovsky turned it over in the Ducks' zone, and Sharp fed Hossa in front for a backhander at 1:07. Bolland recorded his goal with the man advantage later in the period, wristing one from between the circles with 2:41 remaining. Sharp somehow skated through a trio of defenders and wristed his 17th goal past Hiller's glove side for a 4-0 lead midway through the third. "We didn't give them opportunities off our mistakes and we took advantage of their mistakes," Emery said.
Final: New Jersey Devils 6 -- Dallas Stars 3
In a pregame ceremony, the Devils retired former defenseman Scott Niedermayer's No. 27 jersey. He won three Stanley Cups with the team and joins former teammates Scott Stevens (No. 4) and Ken Daneyko (No. 3) as the only players to have their jerseys retired by the organization. "It was a lot of fun out there," said Niedermayer. "I have many good memories here and to get the welcome I got here tonight it felt really special. It made me feel really good." Zach Parise had a goal and three assists, Petr Sykora, Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias all had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who have won three straight. Johan Hedberg turned aside 33-of-36 shots in the win. "We're definitely playing better and playing smarter," said Parise. "Speaking for myself, I'm playing much better from earlier in the season, feeling good out there lately." Brenden Morrow, Toby Petersen and Michael Ryder all had goals for the Stars, who had a three-game winning streak stopped. Richard Bachman was torched for all six goals on 31 shots. Dallas scored the initial goal of the game when Ryder snapped home a rebound in the slot at the 8:40 mark of the first. However, the Devils tied the game with 4:17 to play in the first frame when David Clarkson's shot and did't look back from there going on to defeat the Stars 6-3.
