Hey remember the beginning of the season I have the pleasure of working with a couple Senators fans and I have a cousin that is a Sens fan too and the consensus among them was this. That this year was a write off, tank pick whatever let the young players play get a great draft pick at the end of this year because the Senators had no chance at making the playoffs none whatsoever even myself which I gloatingly said back in October to one I work with "enjoy your last place team this year"

Well.....................

Halfway into the season and watching them play over the past couple months and waiting and telling myself this isn't going to last its time for me to admit that it isn't going to happen. The Sens for a team picked to be near the bottom(for the record I had them 14th just ahead of the Islanders) they are 25-15-6 with 56 points puts them 5th in the east 1 behind the division leading Boston Bruins(Bruins have played 5 less games though) and a clear 8 points ahead of the 9th place Washington Capitals and barring a complete collapse this team will probably make the playoffs unheard of for a team picked to be near the bottom

After losing 7-2 to Philadelphia on October 18th and looking horrible the Sens have gone through an impressive run with coming back in the 3rd to win late in the 3rd or win in OT on many occasions and right now are 11-1-2 in their last 14 games making them one of the hottest teams in the league have scored the 2nd most goals in the Eastern conference with 146, they have also allowed the 2nd most in the East with the same number(only Carolina has allowed more with 152)

players like Jason Spezza, Michalek and Karlsson are having gr8 years and Karlsson is even getting some talk about the Norris trophy this year and Alfredsson is getting his game back together as well. Nick Foligno is having a breakthrough season and it finally appears the Sens are getting the secondary scoring that has plagued them for several years

The goaltending by Craig Anderson he's been well his GAA(3.12) and SV%(.903) aren't great his win totals are and he's winning games which is what matters right. Another reason this team is where it is head coach Paul MacLean has them playing well above their expectations this year and is an early coach of the year candidate.

And you know what I'm happy for them. Really I am(as long as the Leafs make the playoffs) but really I am because if the Leafs make the playoffs and Sens get there wouldn't a playoff series between them be great to rebuild the rivalry up that has kind of died a bit the past few years

Btw those Sens fans I work with and my cousin where the attitude was tank and lose and get a top pick in the draft that has all changed now

And I'm ok with that kind of. The Habs though that's a different story
