In a thrilling game the NY Rangers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 with stellar play from Rick Nash ,Henrik Lundqvist and Ryan Callahan.
In the beginning of the Rangers game they were on point with their fore check and hits into the boards, which led to a flyers penalty. While on the power play the Rangers struck goal when Ryan Callahan put the puck in the back of the net with a beautiful feed from Stepan and Gaborik. Then six minutes later the rangers killed their momentum when they took a penalty which led to a goal by Wayne Simmionds. After that the game was pretty even until rangers took a penalty and again the Flyers struck when Voracek scored when he got the pass from Simmionds. With the Rangers down by one the Rangers continued to fore check and Lundqvist continued to make great saves. With about minute left Ryan Mcdonagh outlet a pass to Ryan Callahan and boy did he make move which led to the puck in the back of the net and game tied at 2. During the 2nd it was pretty much even but Rangers kept their pressure but the 2nd period came and went with no goal. Then in the 3rd Rick Nash as usual woke up and for the sixth tine off of a beautiful outlet pass from Girardi which led to some nasty moves and the puck in net by Rick Nash. When ask about the goal Giraradi said “ I could watch those moves all day long as long as I get the assist when he puts the puck in the back of the net”. With momentum now on the Rangers side the Rangers kept pushing as they got “brutal play” Tortella said from Stepan. This brutal play by Stepan led to a stellar pass to Nash who scored when he beat Bryzgalov and the puck was found in the back of the net. This goal was Nash 7th goal in third period which tells you when he scores it is a game changer. With about 2minutes the goalie was pulled and a about minute later into the man advantage the Rangers defense played their best because when a shot came Lundqvist made the first save then Stepan save it with his foot and then Lundqvist while on the floor still made the save that led to a Rangers win.
At the end of the night the Rangers found themselves in the 8th spot which could only mean one thing a playoff spot. When asked about what the wining streak has done for the team Callahan said “ it has built confidence in our team”. This confidence has led to three game wining streak which will hopefully continue Thursday night when they take on the New York Islanders.
