Last season everyone was happy to finally have the Jets back. No matter how the team did all we cared about was the fact that the team is back. Well, that year is over. Even with the shortened season this year will be nothing less than competitive. What really went wrong this season. Well I have picked out my number one reason why the Jets could not make the playoffs last season.

Okay, the Jets were not good on defense and if they want to make any noise in the league this year they need to develop a very physical, and aggressive defense.

Today the Jets held their first scrimmage at the MTS. Coach Noel preached defense, defense, all day and even told reporters that the Jets defense is the make it or break it part of the season.

The Jets gave up 245 goals last season, ranking them 26th in the league. Only the New York Islanders, Columbus, Toronto and Tampa Bay surrendered more. This is something that needs to be fixed and very fast.

The Jets went 23-13-5 at the sold-out MTS Centre last season before screaming fans, but were just 37-35-10 overall because of their road woes. With a short training camp and a short season, however, he says there isn't a lot of time to try new things.

I just really hope that the Jets can get some things worked out and we can get back to winning! The season opener is this Saturday and I will be writing a game preview sometime before game time.

Until then, GO JETS!
