Morgan Rielly, defenseman from West Vancouver, BC who played for the Moose Jaw Warriors during the 2012 season. Rielly, drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2012 NHL entry draft had a tough last season.
Injured early last season in fall, Rielly suffered a knee injury forcing him out for the rest of the regular season. Coming back for the Playoffs to score eighteen points in eighteen games, Rielly impressed scouts for his preformance after coming back from injury. Finishing fifth in North American Skaters for NHL centeral scouting, Rielly was taken by the LEafs with the fifth pick and may have the chance to make the Leafs roster come fall.
Brian Burke and the Leafs were impressed with Rielly's performance at Leafs rookie camp. Player Developement for the Leafs talked to the media saying they were very impressed with Rielly and that if he impresses while playing for Canada during the Canada/Russia Challenge, he may have the chance at cracking the Leafs roster. That he did, Rielly scored four points in four games for Canada hopefully impressing Burke and Scouts.
