Why the Colorado Avalanche should make the playoffs in 2012-2013
After finishing 11th place in the west at the end of the 2011-2012 season, the Colorado Avalanche hope to finish in a top eight spot at the end of the 2012-2013 season and make the playoffs.
With the young core of Gabriel Landeskog, Matt Duchene, Ryan Orielly and Semyon Varlamov, the Avs hope that each of their young guns pick up there game going into the season. Captain Milan Hejduk and top center Paul Stastny hope to lead the team into an outbreak season. Stastny who had 53 points last season, has hopes that he can pick up his game and score up to 70 plus points at which he has the ability to score. Top defenseman Erik Johnson who did not have his best season, is excpected to rack up the points for the money he is getting paid.
P.A Parenteau, who was signed by the Avs in the offseason out of free agency, played for the Islanders last season. Parenteau twenty nine, scored 68 points in 2012 while playing along side John Tavares. The top six forward is excpected to score the points he recorded last season to help Avs into the playoffs.
In the Back end the Avs signed Greg Zanon who played with Boston last season and was traded to the Bruins from Minnesota at the trade deadline. Zanon thirty two, is excpected to play in a veteran role for Colorado next season.
